What can I say, I LOVE Outlander !!!
I have been watching since the show started in August 2014. Some seasons I follow along from episode to episode. Some seasons my life has been too busy and so I power watch episodes after they air. Many people are not interested in the story or the characters, but I find a number of things really interesting about the series.
I find the very rustic lifestyle, and living conditions fascinating! I love the fun aspect of Claire trying to bring in some aspects of modern medicine to the mid 1700's without being thought of as a witch!
And, mostly, I LOVE that just about all of the pottery I create could easily be found somewhere at Fraser's Ridge! My pieces are rustic, sort of a mix of modern farmhouse, cottage core, and shabby chic all mixed in with a touch of mountain inspiration, and I think all of these would have been a perfect fit for Claire and Jamie's home.
These period creations and re-creations shown above give you a better idea of the style and textures of handmade stoneware which were being used in everyday life during the period.
All in all, I find watching the Outlander series fun. I sort of do a self made scavenger hunt while I watch the shows. It's so exciting to find bowls, mugs, vases, pie plates, serving pieces and more that I inspire me to re-create with my own interpretation.
As I head into 2022, I am going to return to some of the pieces I have created in the past with a new intention of re-creating them with better form, being able to recreate them in multiples, and trying to further hone my glazing and glaze combinations. I am excited about getting back into the Studio and starting fresh for 2022.
What would you like to see me add to my creation list? Any color requests? Any specific design requests?
Thanks for following along, and I hope you and your family have a safe, and healthy Holiday Season!
My friends, it has been a very hard 18 months. Some of us have lost someone dear, some of us have lost several who were dear, some of us know someone who has lost someone. Unfortunately, we do not need to search too far to find a soul who is hurting.
I myself have had several losses over the past 18 months and I know when I see certain things I think, well maybe they are with me...maybe they are watching over me...maybe....
I know that there are a lot of us who are grieving and I thought this new design might speak to all of us.
I will be creating two versions of this piece. One with the dragonfly, and one with a Cardinal sitting on a branch.
I am not sure when these will become available, but if you are interested be in touch.
Meanwhile, I wish you well, and I hope that your journey or that of your friends or family members may be eased by the occasional shiny penny, or dragonfly, or cardinal, or.....
